about
Founded in Lincoln, Nebraska in 1984, For Against began crafting their energetic and melodic hook-laden songs largely inspired by the sounds
emanating from the UK in the early part of the decade. Independent Project Records released the band's first two albums and a 10" mini-LP, and then collaborated with the band and other labels on several of their later releases. The Pennines comes from a rare, live in-studio recording made in 1987 between the recording of their first and second albums, and is a previously unreleased track that is exclusive to Source. Guitarist Harry Dingman III remembers “I can still picture the neat hand written lyric sheet (that Jeff wrote out) and wondering what the hell a Pennine was? And then thought it was pretty clever and went to work on a guitar line. I worked the guitar line out first at my house and brought it to our practice in Jeff's parent's basement. Jeff then put the lyrics and bass to the guitar riff, Greg came in on drums, and in a couple run throughs the song was underway and done.”
Beautifully crafted tracks with a lot of heart. So happy they were reissued on vinyl with the IPR work of art packaging and available for streaming here on BC. Thanks Half String! slowdive_fan
First off I’m unbelievably excited this recording exists. Bonus is this label rules. So much care put into the packaging, fair pricing, postcards, and the ever important handwritten thanks. Peace, love, and take care. Your efforts on this document are greatly appreciated! popetones
