about
Barry Craig was best known as prolific ambient electronic "trance music" artist A Produce, and was active in the underground California
music scene of the early 1980s, first coming to attention as guitarist in the LA-based moody postpunk band Afterimage. By the late 1980's
Barry had re-envisioned himself as a solo electronic artist and released a number of CDs on his own Trance Port label. Craig passed away in
2011 after a sudden illness, and it was only during the memorial service at Craig's home that Independent Project Records founder Bruce Licher became aware of an entire career's worth of recordings that Craig had made with his childhood friend David Greenland while they were growing up in suburban Rockford, Illinois. While those early, raw recordings are being investigated for a future archival release on IPR, we are currently preparing the release of an album and an EP's worth of material that the two songwriters wrote and recorded during two sessions in 1989 and 1994. With an excellent grasp of writing catchy singer/songwriter tunes blended with some of Craig's ambient electronic soundscapes, IPR is excited to be able to bring these exquisite home recordings to a wider audience as the Autumn Everywhere release planned for later this year. The Flame was recorded during the 1989 Looking Away album sessions and features vocals from both David Greenland and Barry Craig.
Beautifully crafted tracks with a lot of heart. So happy they were reissued on vinyl with the IPR work of art packaging and available for streaming here on BC. Thanks Half String! slowdive_fan
First off I’m unbelievably excited this recording exists. Bonus is this label rules. So much care put into the packaging, fair pricing, postcards, and the ever important handwritten thanks. Peace, love, and take care. Your efforts on this document are greatly appreciated! popetones
